Bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet has drawn market attention after transferring 1,350 coins, valued at approximately $108 million, to the institutional trading platform Coinbase Prime. According to data from on-chain tracking platform Lookonchain, the recent transfer follows an earlier transaction on August 25, when the firm moved 1,000 Bitcoin worth $79.77 million to the same platform.
The back-to-back transfers have fueled speculation among traders regarding a potential selloff, particularly as the Bitcoin price attempts to break through the $80,000 resistance level. While transferring assets to an exchange-linked custody platform does not automatically indicate an immediate sale, such movements frequently draw close scrutiny from market participants.
Arkham data indicates that Metaplanet currently holds 38.65K Bitcoin, valued at around $3.07 billion, after previously purchasing 43,000 Bitcoin at an average price of $96,191. The firm also reported a $20 million profit in the first half of 2026.
The transfer coincides with reports that another major Bitcoin treasury, Strategy, has halted its Bitcoin acquisition strategy to focus on increasing its USD cash reserves. Additionally, discussions have emerged following reports of both Strategy and Metaplanet facing delisting from the MSCI Index.
At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price traded near the flatline at $79,133, following a 24-hour high of $81,281.
