MEXC Data Shows Storage and Memory Stocks Dominated Trading During Tech Earnings

Exchange MEXC released trading data showing storage and memory stocks dominated individual stock futures activity during the recent U.S. technology earnings season. Between July 20 and August 7, 2026, when six major technology companies reported results, storage and memory stocks accounted for 67.3% of trading volume, up from 57.5% in the preceding 19 days.

The combined trading share of Alphabet, Tesla, Meta, Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon remained relatively flat, increasing slightly from 2.6% to 2.7%. Storage and memory stocks held nearly 25 times the trading share of these six major technology companies.

Earnings-Driven Volatility

SK Hynix's July 29 earnings report triggered significant activity across related assets. The company reported a 257% year-over-year increase in second-quarter revenue and a 557% increase in operating profit, attributing the growth to AI server demand, rising memory prices, and long-term supply agreements.

On the same day, MEXC trading volume rose 140% for Micron and 110% for the Roundhill Memory ETF. Samsung volume increased 272% ahead of its own results the following day, while the Direxion Daily South Korea Bull 3X Shares ETF and the Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X Shares ETF rose 116% and 25%, respectively.

Samsung's July 30 earnings projection of stronger demand for server DRAM, enterprise SSDs, and HBM in the second half of the year, combined with expectations of tight supply, also drove trading increases. MEXC volume rose 20% for Micron, 19% for SanDisk, 34% for KORU, and 15% for SOXL on that day.

Peak Trading Activity Beyond Earnings Days

Among the 10 key assets examined—the six major technology companies plus Intel, SanDisk, SK Hynix, and Samsung—60% reached their highest trading volume outside the earnings day itself. Half of these peaked after earnings release, and 10% peaked before the announcement. The remaining 40% peaked on earnings day.

SK Hynix's futures product tracking Korean-listed shares reached its trading-window peak on August 11, 13 calendar days after the earnings release, at approximately 1.5 times its earnings-day volume. This timing coincided with the company's approval of approximately KRW 54 trillion for new DRAM and NAND production facilities four days earlier.

Weekend Trading Activity

Trading activity also responded to industry news outside traditional market hours. Average Sunday trading volume for MEXC Stock Futures was 25.4% of the Tuesday-to-Friday daily average. On Sunday, August 9, platform-wide individual stock volume fell 40.3% from the previous day, while the SK Hynix product rose approximately 228% following news of the company's factory investment plan.
