MEXC, a digital asset trading platform, released August trading data showing significant growth across its traditional finance-linked products. Trading volume for stock, index, and ETF futures rose 130% month-on-month, while available contracts increased 35% to over 400 listings.
Tokenized stocks and ETF spot trading volume also grew 30%, with approximately 99% of existing listings recording higher volumes.
Memory and Semiconductor Trading Expands
Stock futures activity broadened considerably in August, particularly in memory and semiconductor sectors. SKHYNIX (SK hynix) ranked second overall by trading volume with a 401% month-on-month increase, while MU (Micron) ranked third with approximately 267% growth.
Combined trading volume for stock futures tracking Korean companies—including SKHYNIX, SKHY, SAMSUNG, and KORU—rose approximately 348%. Their share of total stock futures trading volume increased from 14% in July to 27% in August.
Semiconductor exchange-traded funds also saw substantial activity. SOXL futures, tracking a 3x leveraged semiconductor ETF, surged approximately 1,192% and accounted for 20% of total stock futures trading volume in August, up from less than 4% in July. SOXS futures, offering 3x inverse exposure, recorded 436% volume growth.
In contrast, SPX500 futures tracking the S&P 500 index declined approximately 32%, indicating a shift toward sector-specific trading.
Additional Growth Areas
Beyond semiconductors, TSLA (Tesla) stock futures grew approximately 784%, while SPCX (SpaceX) futures rose 45%.
CRCL (Circle) led tokenized stock spot trading with 69% month-on-month growth, while NBIS (Nebius), an AI cloud infrastructure company, ranked third among the top 10 with 188% growth.
Stock futures trading during August's 10 weekend days accounted for approximately 11% of monthly volume, reflecting demand for access outside traditional market hours.

MEXC's 0808: Stock Season 0-fee promotional event attracted more than 86,000 users and saved participants over $1 million in trading fees.
