MicroStrategy, rebranded as Strategy, has signaled a potential return to Bitcoin buying after roughly two months away from the market. Co-founder Michael Saylor posted "We're Back" on Sunday alongside the company's Bitcoin portfolio tracker, prompting speculation about an imminent purchase.
The post does not explicitly confirm a new Bitcoin purchase. However, market observers are monitoring for an official announcement through Strategy's next SEC filing. Traders on prediction market Polymarket have priced in a 96% probability that Strategy will announce a Bitcoin buy between August 25 and 31, a sharp increase from approximately 18% before Saylor's post.
Strategy last purchased Bitcoin on June 22, 2026, ending a period of regular weekly acquisitions. The company currently holds 840,447 BTC with an unrealized paper profit of approximately $2.8 billion based on current market valuations.
Financial Position
Strategy has accumulated $6.69 billion in cash and reserves. Of this amount, $5.10 billion is designated for debt payments, interest, and preferred stock dividends. The remaining $1.59 billion in flexible reserves could be allocated to Bitcoin purchases, stock buybacks, or debt management depending on market conditions.
Bitcoin is trading near $78,719, valuing Strategy's holdings at roughly $66.2 billion against a reported $63.36 billion purchase cost.
