Joseph Moore, a Wall Street analyst at Morgan Stanley, maintained a 'Hold' rating for Marvell Technology (NASDAQ: MRVL) stock, according to a note sent to clients on Friday. The analyst reaffirmed Morgan Stanley's 12-month price target at $246, which represents potential upside of 3.96% from the stock's trading level at the time.
Moore's cautious stance reflects concerns about Marvell's valuation relative to industry peers. Morgan Stanley noted that MRVL stock trades at more than twice the valuation multiple of competitors including Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGO) and Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ: NVDA). According to the analyst, this elevated valuation leaves limited room for further expansion over the next 12 months.
The 'Hold' rating comes despite positive developments at the company. Marvell has accelerated its data center growth outlook to approximately 60% for calendar year 2027 and continues to expand its position in artificial intelligence infrastructure through XPU attach, optical connectivity, and scale-up networking. Moore noted that these positive developments are already fully reflected in the company's market expectations.
MRVL stock has rallied more than 218% over the past 12 months, trading at $236.62 at the time of this analysis, giving the company a market capitalization of approximately $216.4 billion. The stock had declined more than 5% over the 30 days through September 18, 2026.
Among 27 Wall Street analysts surveyed by TipRanks over the last three months, the average rating for Marvell stock is 'Strong Buy,' with an average price target of $398.38. Price targets from these analysts range from a high of $400 to a low of $220.
