A 10% decline from the collateral price recorded around 13:24 UTC on Nov. 6 would make positions carrying about 8.84 million USDC of debt eligible for liquidation in a Morpho lending market on Base. The snapshot covered 1,070 positions borrowing USDC against cbXRP, Coinbase's XRP-backed token. A smaller 5% decline would bring 462 of those positions, carrying about 3.23 million USDC of debt, to or beyond the same boundary.
For XRP holders who borrow against their tokens, further price weakness creates a choice between repaying debt, committing more collateral, or facing liquidation. Borrowing preserves exposure to the asset, while adding a financial obligation that becomes harder to support as collateral loses value.
Nearly 15% of market debt within a 10% decline
Coinbase describes cbXRP as a wrapped token backed 1:1 by native XRP held in its custody. A holder can use an existing XRP position as collateral, so rising loan balances alone do not create new XRP purchases.
At 13:24 UTC, the market carried about 59.2 million USDC of total debt against roughly 119.9 million cbXRP in collateral. The debt inside the further-10% stress bucket represented approximately 15% of that borrowing, and the affected positions held about 12.73 million cbXRP.
Hypothetical borrower after a 10% oracle decline
An illustrative 60% starting LTV rises to 66.7% when collateral value falls 10%, leaving debt and collateral quantities unchanged. The 5% group sits inside the 10% group. Repayments or added collateral can change the outcome.
November 6, 2026 13:24 UTC API state timestamps. Paginated requests span multiple observations. Fixed-position scenarios establish conditional eligibility. Actual seizures and subsequent native-XRP sales require separate transactions. Borrower example is hypothetical and excludes interest, fees and further price changes.
Its liquidation loan-to-value threshold is fixed at 62.5%. As the collateral price falls, the same debt takes up a larger share of the backing, bringing the position closer to liquidation eligibility.
The market's oracle, the price feed used to value collateral, uses Chainlink's XRP/USD feed with a fixed 1:1 USDC leg, and its reported ratio was about 1.1843 USDC per cbXRP.
Borrower actions can change the exposed balance before prices reach either scenario.
Consider a position starting at 60% LTV. A 10% fall in the oracle price, with debt and collateral quantities unchanged, raises its LTV to about 66.7%, beyond this market's 62.5% threshold.
Repaying 10% of the debt would restore the original 60% LTV at the lower price. Adding about 11.1% to the original collateral quantity would achieve the same result, excluding interest, fees, and further price moves.
The market interface recorded repayments and collateral additions around 13:14-13:16 UTC on Nov. 6. Those transactions show that positions were changing around the observation window.
For borrowers using Coinbase's interface to Morpho on Base, optional automatic collateral protection can add assets after a configured trigger. Borrowers must enable it and have assets available, and volatility or technical problems can prevent execution.
That makes the fixed-position estimate sensitive to both borrower responses and whether intended top-ups actually complete.
What liquidation would transfer
Once a position becomes eligible, an external liquidator can repay some or all of its debt and receive collateral plus an incentive. In this market, that exchanges USDC debt repayment for cbXRP collateral.
The exposed positions hold 12.7 million cbXRP, but the amount actually seized depends on subsequent liquidation transactions.
A liquidator may retain or trade that collateral, and any resulting native-XRP sales would require separate evidence linking the liquidation to those sales.
For holders using XRP-backed credit, the immediate pressure is to keep debt supported as collateral values change. Subsequent repayments, collateral additions and executed liquidations will determine how much of this snapshot's exposure remains.
