MrBeast's Step Banking App Remains Crypto-Free Despite Bitmine Investment

MrBeast is actively promoting Step, a financial technology app acquired by his company Beast Industries in February 2026, but the platform continues to operate without cryptocurrency features.

The promotion comes nine months after Bitmine invested $200 million in Beast Industries. At the time of that investment announcement, Beast Industries CEO Jeff Housenbold said the company looked forward to exploring ways to incorporate decentralized finance into its financial services platform. However, Beast Industries has not specified whether Step was intended to be that platform.

In an October 17 video, MrBeast deposited $175,000 into Step accounts for winners of a weight-loss challenge. He described Step as "the most rewarding way to set yourself up for your financial future" and promoted a sign-up offer giving new users $5 after funding their account and making a first purchase of $5 or more with a Step card within 30 days. The video attracted more than 93 million views.

Current Features and Services

Step advertises credit building, at least 1% cashback, 3% on savings, FDIC insurance up to $1 million, EarlyPay cash advances ranging from $20 to $250, and rewards for playing games and taking surveys. According to Step's terms, the 3% is listed as a promotional reward rather than interest. Banking services are provided by Evolve Bank & Trust.

Step's app store listings make no mention of cryptocurrency features. A company spokesperson said in spring 2026 that Beast Industries had not announced plans to add digital assets to Step and was still evaluating its strategy for the app.

Previous Crypto History

Step stopped offering crypto asset services in 2024. The company previously offered crypto asset trading, including to minors with parental permission, but shut down that service in May 2024.

Comparing Step's terms of service from February 2026 with the current version updated September 26, 2026, a section describing crypto rewards has been removed. That section originally detailed how users could take rewards as cryptocurrency or stock instead of cash. The current terms now reference only stock rewards, though the general definition of rewards still lists cryptocurrency as a potential form when available.

Trademark Applications

In October 2025, Beast Holdings LLC filed trademark applications for "Beast Financial" and "MrBeast Financial." The MrBeast Financial application lists services including centralized and decentralized crypto exchanges and crypto payment processing. No further announcements regarding these trademarks have been made.
