Uniform Labs announced Thursday that Multiliquid, its institutional liquidity platform, closed a seed round led by Polychain Capital, bringing total funding to $8 million. Circle Ventures and five additional firms—Strobe Ventures, CMT Digital, Metalayer Ventures, Generative Ventures, and Polychain—participated in the funding round.
Multiliquid addresses a persistent challenge in tokenized finance: assets representing Treasuries, money market funds, and private credit can trade on blockchains, but converting them into spendable stablecoins currently requires days to settle through traditional redemption processes.
Solving Liquidity for Digital Assets
The platform enables institutions to exchange tokenized financial assets for stablecoins through a single blockchain transaction, bypassing conventional settlement windows. Multiliquid supports tokenized funds from asset managers including Wellington Management, Vaneck, Janus Henderson, and Fasanara, as well as stablecoins such as USDC.
"Tokenization only matters if the assets are actually liquid," said Multiliquid founder and CEO Will Beeson.
Regulatory and Market Context
The GENIUS Act prohibits payment stablecoin issuers from paying holders interest or yield directly, creating a separation between transactional stablecoins and yield-bearing tokenized investments. Multiliquid aims to bridge these categories, allowing institutions to move capital between investments and stablecoins without waiting for conventional settlement periods.
Polychain founder Olaf Carlson-Wee identified liquidity as the remaining bottleneck for tokenized assets, as questions remain about whether blockchain-based settlement can deliver the liquidity institutions expect from traditional capital markets.
