NEAR Intents temporarily halted its services after a software bug involving its Omni deposit and withdrawal infrastructure led to an estimated $3.8 million loss. The team confirmed that the contract-side vulnerability has been patched and stated that affected users will be fully compensated.
Infrastructure Impact
The exploit forced the service and near.com offline on Thursday morning. While core services were expected to resume shortly after the patch, the wider plumbing required additional maintenance. Deposits and withdrawals involving several networks—including BSC, Polygon, TON, Optimism, Avalanche, Stellar, Monad, LayerX, Adi, Scroll, and Plasma—were kept temporarily unavailable for approximately 12 additional hours while repairs continued on the Omni infrastructure.
Fund Movement and Investigation
Onchain investigator ZachXBT reported that irregular outflows were recorded from a BSC hot wallet before processing stopped. According to the investigator, the stolen assets were transferred immediately toward Kucoin and subsequently bridged to Bitcoin.
NEAR Intents announced it has reported the incident to law enforcement and is working with security and blockchain analytics partners to trace the funds. The team promised a detailed report in the coming days, noting that users holding assets from the temporarily disabled chains will still be able to swap them once full services return.
