NEAR Protocol is expanding beyond crypto-native markets by integrating Ondo Finance's tokenization infrastructure to bring U.S. stocks and ETFs on-chain. Eligible users in supported jurisdictions can now access tokenized exposure to major equities including NVIDIA, Tesla, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon.
Users can fund these purchases through NEAR Intents, the protocol's cross-chain transaction system, using USD Coin, Bitcoin, or one of over thirty supported blockchain assets. This integration allows users to acquire tokenized securities without leaving the NEAR ecosystem, consolidating these holdings within their overall financial flows.
Access to Ondo's Growing Tokenized Asset Market
The integration grants NEAR Protocol access to Ondo Finance's base of more than $1 billion in tokenized assets and over $26 billion in cumulative trading and settlement volume. Increased adoption and trading activity could expand NEAR Protocol's role in tokenized finance more broadly.
Liquidity Consolidation Across Networks
NEAR Intents facilitates asset movements by enabling users to fund transactions with holdings across more than thirty different blockchain platforms. This eliminates the need for users to bridge assets or utilize wrapped tokens, consolidating liquidity scattered across multiple networks.
The routing layer has demonstrated meaningful usage, processing approximately $137 million in 24-hour volume and more than $3.4 billion over 30 days. Much of this liquidity originates from Ethereum, Bitcoin, and TRON supplies, with NEAR facilitating the clearing process for these assets. In total, NEAR Intents has processed nearly $30 billion in all-time volume.
Tokenization Momentum in Capital Markets
This expansion comes as tokenization gains momentum throughout traditional capital markets. CFTC Chairman Michael Selig has stated that U.S.-based capital markets need to be prepared for "mass tokenization," attributed to growing use of blockchain technology and artificial intelligence. This backdrop expands the potential market for NEAR's infrastructure.
Tokenized stocks could drive increased trading, settlement, and rebalancing activity through NEAR Intents. However, NEAR's challenge lies in converting record routing activity and broader tokenization trends into sustained network value, given the protocol's low-fee structure requires sustained transaction frequency rather than large fees per trade.
