Ethereum engineering firm Nethermind has transitioned its cross-chain node operations from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP, ending its previous role as a LayerZero Decentralized Verifier Network (DVN) participant.
As part of this shift, Nethermind will now operate as a Chainlink CCIP node operator. Because Nethermind is an established Ethereum engineering firm with experience in client development, infrastructure, research, and protocol operations, industry observers note that its infrastructure alignment carries significant weight in the cross-chain space.
Cross-chain systems rely heavily on trust assumptions, where users and developers must evaluate message verifiers, security models, and failure modes.
