The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has announced the addition of four transfer agent partners to its planned tokenized securities platform. Broadridge Financial Solutions, Computershare, Equiniti, and Superstate have joined the exchange's network, bringing the total number of participating firms to six alongside previously signed partners Securitize and tZERO.
The exchange announced the agreements, though a launch date for the platform has not been determined and the venue still requires regulatory approval.
Network and Industry Roles
The expanded group combines established transfer agents with blockchain-focused firms. Broadridge, Computershare, and Equiniti collectively serve nearly 5,000 public companies, including approximately 99% of the S&P 500. Meanwhile, Securitize, tZERO, and Superstate provide experience in digital securities and on-chain recordkeeping.
Transfer agents are responsible for maintaining records of security ownership and managing shareholder services such as corporate actions and dividends. In the new venue, these firms will help connect existing company share records to the tokenized trading infrastructure. NYSE Group President Lynn Martin stated that the exchange's priority is maintaining market integrity through technological advancement.
Platform Architecture and Proposed Features
First outlined by the exchange in January, the proposed platform is designed to integrate the NYSE's Pillar matching engine with blockchain systems for custody and settlement. The system aims to provide round-the-clock trading and instant settlement, with trades funded through dollar amounts or stablecoins.
The platform is intended to support multiple blockchains and handle two categories of tokens: issuer-sponsored tokenized securities and third-party custodial tokens. These tokens are designed to be interchangeable with traditional shares, preserving identical voting rights and dividend distributions for holders.
Trading on the venue will operate separately from standard NYSE stock operations, with access facilitated through participating broker-dealers. While the initial announcement in January specified U.S.-listed equities and exchange-traded funds as targeted products, the exchange has not yet disclosed specific issuers, funds, or securities for the initial rollout.
