The official X account for XRP, operated jointly by Ripple and the XRPL Foundation, crossed 111,000 followers within approximately 13 hours of publishing its first post. The @XRP handle was created on Oct. 15 and remained inactive for four days before making its debut post at 16:08 UTC on Oct. 19 with the message, "hello, world. It's about time."
Ripple replied to the post six minutes later, noting its decade-long history building on the XRP Ledger. Additional comments came from Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse and Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz. Within three hours of the launch, the account had already attracted 56,000 followers, and its debut advertisement drew more than 3.7 million views.
The account links to the website xrp.org, which states that XRP is not a meme, a company share, a stablecoin, or mined and issued by Ripple. The site highlights features such as settlement times of three to five seconds, transaction fees under a penny, and a fixed supply of 100 billion created in 2012 with fees burned over time. Previously, Ripple's corporate feed served as the public voice for XRP, creating blurred lines for regulators and newcomers.
Market data showed XRP trading near $1.30 with a market capitalization of roughly $82 billion following the launch. Meanwhile, trading activity on South Korean exchange Upbit showed XRP outtrading both bitcoin and ether.
The account launch aligns with upcoming industry events, including Ripple's Swell conference scheduled for Oct. 27–29 at The Shed in Manhattan, which expects about 1,500 finance leaders. Nasdaq-listed XRP treasury company Evernorth, which plans to deploy 473 million XRP with partners including Ripple, Coinbase, and Kraken, has teased a planned announcement for the conference.
