Self-custody digital wallet Phantom has announced plans to end its support for the Sui Network on September 24. Following this date, users will no longer be able to view, send, swap, or connect their Sui (SUI) assets to applications using the Phantom wallet.
Phantom's departure removes one distribution channel for Sui applications, though the blockchain itself remains operational. The wallet provider emphasized that user assets will still exist securely within the Sui network, meaning tokens are not transferred or removed from user ownership. Instead, users must change the software they use to control their assets.
When support officially ends, SUI holders will face two primary paths:
- Migrate to another wallet: Users can choose to continue holding SUI by exporting their credentials to another compatible wallet to restore access to their balances and applications.
- Convert assets within Phantom: Users who prefer to stay within the Phantom ecosystem may exchange their SUI for other tokens, such as wrapped SUI, Solana (SOL), Ethereum (ETH), or USD Coin (USDC).
Phantom's fee waiver applies specifically to wrapped SUI, providing a direct cost advantage for that particular route compared to other conversion options. While the migration process retains both users and capital on the Sui Network, conversion processes transfer them to other supported networks.
