New AI Applications Expand Pi Ecosystem
Pi Network expanded its SoloHost applications on August 27, introducing OpenClaw and Atlassian MCP Server through Pi Desktop with Node 0.6.2. OpenClaw is a locally run AI tool that can use local AI models or external services such as ChatGPT and Claude, with user memory retained on the user's computer while requests to models are processed by cloud providers.
Atlassian MCP Server bridges compatible AI tools with Jira through a server running on the user's computer. SoloHost remains in beta, with users required to evaluate individual applications. The Pi team stated these applications could reach over 420,000 node operators in its ecosystem.
App Studio adjusted pricing on August 24 to reflect underlying AI costs with no markup, allowing eligible application designers to maintain subsidies under the new model.
Testnet Shows Smart Contract Development
On August 27, Pi's testnet showed booking application operations within wallets, with transactions involving over 52 Test-Pi held in escrow. The booking system holds funds until guest check-in, after which funds are automatically paid to hosts under specified conditions.
Protocol 27 brings relaxed smart contract authorization following Protocol 26's completion on Mainnet. The team targeted Protocol 27 for upgrade on September 15. Changes to testnet interfaces with decentralized exchanges and automated market makers were also reported.
