The Pi Network core team announced the release of Pi Desktop version 0.6.4, the latest update to its desktop client. The upgrade focuses on simplifying remote access to SoloHost applications and enhancing security for apps running through Pi Desktop.
SoloHost remote access simplified
Previously, pioneers who wanted to run locally hosted apps on their phones needed to modify home router settings, such as opening ports. The new version enables Pi Desktop to establish remote connections automatically, allowing users to access supported applications from the Pi Browser on their mobile devices without manual router configuration. Remote access remains optional.
Added application safeguards
The update introduces checks that verify whether a SoloHost app is limited to its own files and network resources before installation and each time the app starts. These checks aim to prevent an app from accessing unrelated files on the user’s computer, other applications’ data, or the Pi Node itself. Developers are required to run these checks when publishing an app.
Protocol 28 upgrade
Pi Network confirmed that it completed its upgrade to Protocol 28 on October 16. The protocol upgrade is intended to improve handling of delayed transaction data and provide developers with greater flexibility for maintaining and updating smart contracts.
Pi token price movement
Alongside broader market trends, the Pi token fell to approximately $0.076, a 2.7% decline over the past day and more than 6% below its recent high of about $0.081. The price remains roughly 97% below its all‑time high of nearly $3 recorded in February 2025 and sits about 7% above its all‑time low of $0.07072.
