Porsche Concludes Web3 Experiment
Porsche has officially concluded its Web3 project and PIONEERS CIRCLE, bringing an end to the official community built around its PORSCHE 911 NFT collection. The tokens themselves remain in holders' wallets and continue to exist on the blockchain, but the automaker has ceased active community management and brand-backed club experiences.
According to the company, the PIONEERS Discord server is transitioning into a read-only archive, and the @eth_porsche X account will no longer receive active updates. Porsche announced no burn, buyback, migration, or redemption program for the tokens, leaving owners to hold assets without an active Porsche Web3 operation backing the experience.
From Initial Ambitions to Shorter Supply
The sports car manufacturer originally previewed the collection at Art Basel Miami in November 2022 with plans for 7,500 customizable tokenized 911s. Minting opened in January 2023 at a price of 0.911 ETH per token, which was approximately $1,400 to $1,500 at the time. Following market resistance and secondary listings slipping below the mint price, Porsche halted the full run, closing the mint at 2,363 NFTs.
Following the reduced supply, the collection's floor price briefly increased. To support the community, Porsche offered holders behind-the-scenes access, physical capsule collections, private airdrops, and event experiences. Broader blockchain applications discussed at launch, such as metaverse integrations and supply-chain uses, did not materialize as defining products, leaving the PIONEERS CIRCLE as the practical center of the initiative.
Trading Volume and Current Status
Data from NFT marketplace OpenSea indicates all-time trading volume near $20 million for the collection. However, economic activity slowed significantly over time, with volume totaling roughly $38,000 over the past year and dropping to about $2,900 in the final month.
While Porsche has shut down its club channels and stopped posting, the digital 911s remain onchain. Owners retain the ability to keep, transfer, or list their digital tokens, even though the official Porsche club surrounding them has closed.
