Prediction market traders are expressing skepticism about bitcoin reaching $100,000 before 2027, with odds heavily favoring more modest price movements in the near term.
On October 13, Polymarket participants assigned just a 27% probability to bitcoin reaching $100,000 before 2027, while the odds of touching that milestone before November stood at only 2%. With bitcoin trading near $83,416, the betting crowd appears more concerned about defending $80,000 than reclaiming six-figure territory.
Polymarket's Price Ladder
Polymarket's 2026 bitcoin price market, which has attracted approximately $75.1 million in trading volume, reveals a declining confidence curve as prices climb. The market assigns a 64% chance of reaching $90,000 before year's end, confidence drops to 43% at $95,000, and falls to 27% at $100,000. Higher price levels attract even lower odds, with $110,000 at 12% and $120,000 at 7%.
Downside risks are similarly quantified. Traders assign a 37% probability to bitcoin touching $70,000 before 2027, while $65,000 carries 23% odds and $60,000 sits at 15%.
October's Near-Term Picture
The shorter-term outlook is even less bullish. Polymarket's October market, with roughly $6.3 million in trading volume, assigns an 80% probability to bitcoin touching $85,000 before November. However, odds deteriorate significantly at higher levels: 50% at $87,500, 32% at $90,000, and just 10% at $95,000.
Most notably, traders give a $100,000 price this month only a 2% chance. In contrast, bitcoin has a 57% implied probability of touching $80,000 and a 33% chance of sliding to $77,500.
Kalshi's Forecasts
On Kalshi, the October bitcoin forecast stands at $87,000. The platform's October event places the probability of bitcoin exceeding $87,500 at 49%, while $90,000 commands 35% and $92,500 attracts 22%.
Kalshi's year-end market, which has recorded more than $41.3 million in volume, currently projects $83,554. Settlement brackets assign 14% probability to a year-end finish between $80,000 and $84,999.99.
Longer-Term Perspectives
The longer-term picture shows more optimism. Polymarket's milestone market assigns a 48% probability to bitcoin reaching $100,000 by March 31, 2027, rising to 58% by June and 70% by December 31, 2027.
The contrast is notable: traders give bitcoin a 70% chance of reaching $100,000 by the end of 2027, yet only a 27% chance before 2026 expires. Prediction market prices reflect traders' collective expectations and can change abruptly as new information arrives.
