Pyth Network has been approved as an external distributor of Nasdaq Basic, Nasdaq's real-time quote and trade product for U.S. equities. The announcement came on September 22, 2026, expanding access to market data traditionally available through established financial infrastructure.
Nasdaq Basic provides real-time top-of-book data including best bid and offer prices with size, last sale information, and official opening and closing prices from Nasdaq's U.S. venues and trades reported to the FINRA/Nasdaq Trade Reporting Facility. Coverage extends to all U.S. exchange-listed securities regardless of listing venue.
Clients accessing Nasdaq Basic through Pyth's Data Marketplace must obtain prior written approval from Nasdaq. This arrangement allows Nasdaq to control distribution while extending the reach of its data to software and blockchain-native financial applications.
Michael Cahill, a Core Contributor to Pyth, noted that as financial markets increasingly run on software, data distribution must reach a wider variety of applications. He characterized Pyth's distribution channel as a natural extension of Nasdaq's existing approach to making its data more widely accessible.
Pyth's Data Marketplace serves as the platform's channel for proprietary datasets outside its core oracle offerings, allowing institutions to distribute data directly to applications that require it. Nasdaq Basic represents the latest addition to this growing list of available datasets.
