Quake AI, the cloud provider formed from Rumble's acquisition of Northern Data, is building its services on the assumption that AI agents will become its main users, rather than people.
Rumble Inc acquired about 85.2% of German datacenter operator Northern Data AG in a deal completed on June 17, 2026. The parent company then rebranded as RUM Group, a holding company for the Rumble video platform and Quake AI, the new name for Northern Data.
Infrastructure and financials
Quake AI starts with approximately 22,000 NVIDIA H100/H200 GPUs across nine data centers in Europe and North America. The company aims to reach around 250 MW of energized and planned power capacity by 2027, with more than 200 MW previously unmonetized.
Northern Data raised its full-year 2026 revenue outlook to €170-190 million, a 30% increase from prior estimates. GPU utilization stood at approximately 85% as of March 2026, supported by a $270 million multi-year contract with Together AI for dedicated GPU capacity. RUM Group's stock rose 8-17% following the acquisition announcement, with gains attributed to the upbeat revenue guidance and the Together AI agreement.
An agent-first approach
The strategy was publicly discussed in media coverage on October 28, 2026. CFO Mike Massey and acting CEO John Hoffman described a shift away from traditional cloud services toward infrastructure built for what the company calls an "agentic enterprise." In that model, AI agents browse the web and complete transactions on behalf of users. Massey indicated the company is adjusting so agents can interact directly with cloud infrastructure, rather than going through human-facing tools.
Tether partnership
Quake AI's partnership with Tether, the company behind the USDT stablecoin, aims to create a "trust layer" for coordinating services among autonomous agents. According to the research findings, the arrangement is intended to enable blockchain support for AI agent coordination. However, details of how the Tether integration will work in practice have not been laid out, and it currently reads as a stated intent rather than a shipped product.
What to watch
For RUM Group shareholders, Quake AI combines two bets: renting out GPUs and power to AI companies at high utilization, and building agent-facing services. The Together AI contract and 85% utilization figure suggest the first part already has traction. Key items to monitor include whether Quake AI publishes specifics on its agent-facing services, how the Tether trust layer is implemented, and whether Northern Data's legacy business lands within its €170-190 million revenue outlook for 2026. Leadership is also worth watching, given that Hoffman currently holds the CEO role on an acting basis.
