Quantus, a blockchain designed to be quantum-proof, launched its native token QTC on October 6. The token operates on a proof-of-work system with a capped supply of 21,000,000 QTC, matching Bitcoin's tokenomics.
The initial genesis release unlocked 27% of total supply, or 5.67 million tokens. Of this amount, 4.83 million QTC went to investors and the team, while the company allocated 840,000 tokens to itself. The remaining 73% of supply, approximately 15.3 million tokens, will be mined over time. The genesis supply became accessible exclusively on NEAR Intents, a cross-chain platform, on the launch day.
Quantus positioned QTC as a post-quantum asset, distinguishing it from most existing blockchains that may face security risks from future quantum computers, including Bitcoin. The token incorporates privacy by default through zero-knowledge proofs.
Quantus CEO Christopher Smith said the debut on NEAR Intents aligns with enabling users to trade across networks without centralized intermediaries. Alex Shevchenko, CEO of Defuse Labs and developer of NEAR Intents, endorsed QTC's approach, noting that post-quantum assets require accessibility across existing holdings and chains.
NEAR Intents has integrated post-quantum cryptography into its cross-chain protocol. In September, the platform recorded $4.8 billion in decentralized exchange volume. Bitwise launched a U.S. NEAR ETF during this period, offering investors exposure to privacy, quantum security, and artificial intelligence narratives associated with the network.
