Rare 1959 Pyrex 'Lucky in Love' Dish Sells for Over $4,000 on eBay

A 1959 Pyrex one-quart Cinderella casserole in the Lucky in Love pattern has sold for more than $4,000 on eBay, a four-figure outlier in a market where many vintage pieces still trade for $15 to $45.

The dish, decorated with green shamrocks and pink hearts, is known to collectors as pattern #473. The Corning Museum of Glass's Pyrex Potluck archive calls the design one of the most elusive ever made and suggests it was likely a limited release out of Charleroi, Pennsylvania.

A scarce pattern with a collector following

Pyrex's own team has acknowledged the pattern's reputation. In a line quoted by Hunker, the Pyrex team said: "Lucky in Love is from 1959 and is so rare our fan groups call it the 'holy grail of Pyrex'," tying its origins to the Corning Glass Works plant in Charleroi.

The $4,000 benchmark traces to a 2015 eBay sale cited by the collector site Pyrex Collector, where an extremely rare 1959 promotional Lucky in Love 1-quart Cinderella round casserole sold for over $4,000 even without its original lid, trivet, or box.

A later listing drew attention as well: a 2022 eBay auction attracted a $22,100 bid across 119 bids, but the winning bidder ultimately retracted the offer, according to Hunker's recap. The retraction did not reset the market, but it underscored how heated the hunt for the right pattern can become.

Rarity, not age, drives value

Most vintage Pyrex remains affordable. In a 2026 identification guide, common patterns such as Butterprint (1957 to 1968) and Spring Blossom in good condition were selling for roughly $15 to $45 per piece, while harder-to-find colorways like Pink Butterprint and Black Gooseberry landed in the $75 to $200 range.

PyrexVault describes a wider gap: a lidless casserole in a common pattern might sell for only a few dollars, while the same shape in Lucky in Love can command $400 to $700 even without its lid.

That disparity means a one-quart Cinderella round decorated with shamrocks and hearts is worth a closer look if it turns up behind the mixing bowls.
