RedTeam, a subnet operated by cybersecurity firm Innerworks on Bittensor's subnet 61, uses competitive security challenges to evaluate miner-submitted code solutions. Miners earn TAO tokens based on their performance in controlled testing environments against specific security scenarios.
Since launching in late 2024, the platform has run 14 distinct challenges, phasing out 9 as the network's capabilities advanced. According to the project, bot detection efficacy improved from 74.3% to 99.5% over 11 months of continuous adversarial testing. The average performance rate of competing systems during this period fell to 14.6%.
How RedTeam Operates
Miners submit Docker-based solutions to security challenges spanning scenarios from human-behavior mimicry to automation bypass testing. Each submission is a self-contained software package evaluated in isolation within controlled environments.
Enterprise Integration
Innerworks has integrated its technology with 1inch, a DeFi aggregation protocol, and with a messaging application serving over 100 million daily active users. Five additional enterprise applications are currently being tested on the platform, collectively valued at over $22 billion and each processing more than 1 billion transactions per week.
Planned Expansion: Immune System
RedTeam plans to launch an Immune System phase introducing a Bot Virus challenge that reverses traditional attacker-defender roles. Miners will be tasked with creating adversarial agents capable of simultaneous attack and defense operations.
The Immune System will feature encrypted submissions to prevent miners from copying each other's work and introduce enhanced incentive structures rewarding continuous innovation. Innerworks has indicated plans to initiate alpha token buybacks funded through SaaS revenue, locked profits, and upcoming emissions.
