Ripple CEO Bradley Garlinghouse has renewed his push for the United States to establish itself as a global leader in cryptocurrency, saying the goal remains within reach. "Making America the crypto capital of the world is within reach — let's finish the job," Garlinghouse said in a post on X.
His remarks align with recent statements from U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Michael Selig, who noted that the Trump administration is focused on ensuring the digital asset industry develops domestically.
CLARITY Act Vote Set for September
The comments come as lawmakers prepare for a pivotal procedural vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act. The Senate is scheduled to vote on September 15 on whether to advance the bill to formal debate.
If the Senate approves, the House will have only four days in session afterward to review, reconcile, and potentially pass the legislation, creating a compressed timeline for action.
Regulatory Framework at Stake
The CLARITY Act has faced division among lawmakers over several provisions, including ethics requirements, decentralized finance rules, consumer safeguards, and stablecoin reward structures.
For companies like Ripple, passage would establish a clearer regulatory framework for crypto businesses. Such rules would be more difficult for a future administration to reverse, potentially providing the industry with long-term regulatory certainty following years of uncertainty.
