Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse outlined potential new uses for XRP as Evernorth Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: XRPN) made its public market debut on October 14. The company, led by CEO Asheesh Birla, aims to provide investors with exposure to XRP through an active digital asset treasury.
Garlinghouse highlighted opportunities to generate yield through on-chain and off-chain strategies. He noted that leveraging blockchain capabilities could help create institutional investment products, potentially offering investors alternatives beyond holding XRP for price appreciation.
According to Garlinghouse, the publicly-listed investment vehicle could reach investors unable to participate directly in the digital asset market, broadening access to cryptocurrency investments.
Strategic XRP Contribution
Garlinghouse explained that Ripple's contribution of a large amount of XRP to Evernorth aligns with the company's broader strategy to invest in blockchain ecosystems and communities. He stated that Ripple has pursued this approach since its inception.
While Ripple backs Evernorth's XRP focus, Garlinghouse emphasized that the company believes in a multi-chain environment and recognizes the distinct capabilities of the XRP Ledger.
Evernorth Public Debut Details
Evernorth completed its business combination with Armada Acquisition Corp. II on October 9, enabling the company to go public under the ticker XRPN. The Nasdaq debut ceremony occurred on October 14 at the Nasdaq MarketSite in New York's Times Square.
At closing, Evernorth held an estimated 473 million XRP in its treasury and accrued approximately $300 million in gross cash proceeds, excluding transaction costs. The firm's performance will be influenced by its XRP reserves, treasury management, and operating results.
