Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz stated during an X space discussion that he believes XRP could eventually outpace Bitcoin in terms of market capitalization. Schwartz clarified that he expects this potential shift to occur as a result of XRP growing faster than Bitcoin, rather than from a drop in Bitcoin’s value.
Schwartz pointed to the broader future growth of the digital asset sector, noting that top cryptocurrencies might all rise in value simultaneously. He argued that the XRP Ledger could capture a greater share of that growth due to its speed and higher functionality, offering features that Bitcoin cannot support. Schwartz added that he considers an XRP surge to be more likely than not as the industry expands.
The remarks coincided with a broad market sell-off where the total cryptocurrency market cap declined by 0.33%, representing a loss of approximately $8.88 billion. While Bitcoin fell by 0.81% and recorded $46.65 million in net outflows, XRP spot ETFs emerged as the only crypto funds to attract new capital on Tuesday, bringing in $1.55 million in net inflows.
Other crypto investment products experienced capital departures during the same session. Ethereum ETFs saw $24.29 million in outflows, Solana ETFs suffered a $667,000 loss, and HYPE ETFs recorded $12.96 million in outflows. DOGE and BNB exchange-traded funds observed no net flow for the day.
