Ripple has expanded its institutional trading services by launching support for real-world asset perpetual swaps through Ripple Prime, its prime brokerage unit. The offering provides clients exposure to more than 100 reference markets operating 24/7, including stocks, ETFs, metals, energy, currencies, and other traditional assets.
The swaps are offered as principal and reference perpetual futures listed by trade.xyz on Hyperliquid. Unlike traditional stock and commodity markets that operate during fixed hours, these alternatives enable continuous trading, including on weekends, allowing institutions to react to market developments and manage risk outside normal exchange sessions.
Clients can cross-margin their real-world asset swap positions against other asset classes supported by Ripple Prime, with RLUSD serving as collateral for trades. This structure allows institutions to manage multiple exposures through a single counterparty while consolidating margin and risk management across their portfolios.
Michael Higgins, International CEO of Ripple Prime, stated that institutions seek round-the-clock access to equities, commodities, and currencies through digital infrastructure, and that the service enables clients to execute sophisticated trading strategies and actively manage portfolios in response to global market developments.
This expansion follows Ripple Prime's earlier extension of multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing, and financial services to Brevan Howard, an investment firm. Ripple has also moved into leveraged ETF swap financing, a market historically dominated by large banks. The initiative builds on Ripple's acquisition of Hidden Road for $1.25 billion, which the company later rebranded as Ripple Prime.
