Ripple Prime, the company's institutional trading business, has expanded its offerings to include access to perpetual derivatives referencing traditional financial assets such as equities, commodities, and foreign exchange. The service operates through trading infrastructure connected to Hyperliquid, a blockchain ecosystem, and is delivered in partnership with Trade.xyz.
The product targets professional institutional counterparties rather than retail traders. Participants must meet eligibility requirements, and the company notes that leveraged derivatives carry substantial loss potential.
Around-The-Clock Market Access
Traditional securities and derivatives markets operate within defined trading hours. Perpetual contracts, by contrast, enable traders to respond to price movements outside those windows. Ripple Prime aims to make this continuous market structure available to institutional clients through its brokerage and clearing relationships.
This arrangement extends beyond Ripple's historical focus on cryptocurrency payments and the XRP ecosystem. In recent years, the company has expanded into custody, liquidity provision, and regulated digital-dollar infrastructure.
Institutional Integration of Decentralized Infrastructure
The integration connects decentralized trading infrastructure with established institutional financial services. This relationship may introduce different trader types and new collateral arrangements to the Hyperliquid platform.
However, clients accessing tokenized or synthetic derivatives do not directly own the underlying stocks or commodities referenced by their contracts. For Ripple, the launch represents another step toward bridging traditional financial markets with blockchain-based settlement systems.
