Ripple's XRP price increased by approximately 20%, reaching $1.38 and marking a 19.1% rise over a 24-hour period. The broader cryptocurrency market experienced a strong uptrend concurrently, with Bitcoin surpassing $78,000.
The upward price movement coincided with President Donald Trump calling on Congress during a White House event to approve the CLARITY Act to provide regulatory transparency. Additionally, investor appetite was boosted after the U.S. Treasury Department announced plans to double its debt buybacks.
Market attention also focused on the advancement of the proposed Lending Protocol on the XRP Ledger. Clearpool is constructing the platform as a Lending Protocol and Single Asset Vault, utilizing RLUSD as the credit asset. Clearpool has facilitated over $930 million in institutional loans since 2021, and its system allows independent credit managers to set individual risk conditions.
Cicada Partners, a firm with over $860 million in credit underwriting experience, will manage credit operations including borrower evaluation, origination, and loan servicing. Ripple will participate as a limited partner alongside other institutional investors without serving as a special backup.
While Clearpool is currently testing the lending integration on the XRPL Devnet with a technical demonstration planned, the Lending Protocol and Single Asset Vault amendments still require approval from at least 80% of trusted validators for two consecutive weeks.
