Robinhood has added approximately $25 million worth of bitcoin to its corporate balance sheet, according to Johann Kerbrat, the company's Senior Vice President and General Manager of Crypto and International. Kerbrat disclosed the purchase during an interview at the Digital Asset Summit Asia conference on Wednesday.
Kerbrat characterized the move as a reflection of the company's commitment to bitcoin and the cryptocurrency ecosystem. He noted that given Robinhood's market capitalization in the $100 billion range, the $25 million acquisition represents a modest addition to the company's overall financial position.
The purchase places Robinhood among more than 170 public companies worldwide that now hold bitcoin as a treasury asset. Other major corporate holders include Tesla, Block, CleanSpark, and Riot Platforms. Strategy, a Nasdaq-listed company, initiated this trend in 2020 and currently leads among corporate bitcoin holders.
Robinhood has significantly expanded its cryptocurrency operations in recent months. In July, the company launched Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 network built on Arbitrum. The platform supports tokenized stock products, a stablecoin called USDG, and yield-bearing lending services through Robinhood Earn. The chain has also integrated major decentralized finance protocols including Uniswap and infrastructure providers such as Chainlink, Alchemy, and BitGo.
The company serves over 28 million funded customers globally.
