Robinhood Adds $25 Million in Bitcoin to Corporate Balance Sheet

Robinhood has added $25 million worth of Bitcoin to its corporate balance sheet, marking the company's first proprietary Bitcoin holding. Johann Kerbrat, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Crypto and International, announced the purchase on October 7, 2026, during the Digital Asset Summit Asia.

Based on Bitcoin's price near $84,960 at the time of disclosure, the allocation equates to approximately 294 BTC, though other estimates place the figure near 300 coins depending on pricing assumptions. The precise amount is expected to appear in Robinhood's next public filing.

A Strategic Shift

Kerbrat framed the purchase as an alignment between Robinhood and the cryptocurrency community. He emphasized that the company distinguishes between this corporate treasury position and the cryptocurrency assets it holds in custody for customers—approximately 185,000 BTC and around $25 billion in total digital assets across multiple blockchains.

The $25 million allocation is modest relative to Robinhood's $100 billion market capitalization and reported cash holdings, representing roughly half a percent of some analyses of the company's cash position. Kerbrat acknowledged this scale, noting that the Bitcoin purchase "is not going to change a lot of the current trajectory of the company."

Initial Step in Corporate Adoption

The move positions Robinhood alongside other established companies making Bitcoin allocations. In early October, another corporate Bitcoin holder acquired 334 BTC for approximately $28.7 million at an average price near $85,839.

First corporate Bitcoin purchases often serve practical functions beyond immediate financial impact: they establish governance frameworks, clarify custody and accounting treatment, and create precedent for future allocation decisions. Robinhood's move from cryptocurrency facilitator to Bitcoin holder represents a shift from offering products to allocating corporate capital.

The purchase reflects a broader trend of public companies incorporating Bitcoin into their balance sheets as a reserve asset and long-term store of value.
