Robinhood has added $25 million in Bitcoin to its corporate balance sheet, marking the company's first purchase of cryptocurrency as a separate corporate asset distinct from customer holdings. The move positions the fintech firm among public companies adopting Bitcoin for treasury diversification.
Johann Kerbrat, senior vice president and general manager at Robinhood, stated that the company views the purchase as "a strategic move for our overall asset diversification" and that the firm "believes firmly in the future of crypto."
With this purchase, Robinhood becomes the 199th public company to hold Bitcoin in its corporate treasury. The broader group of public companies identified as pursuing a Bitcoin treasury strategy currently holds approximately 1.279 million BTC, valued at roughly $105 billion at current market rates. This amount remains below the 1.499 million BTC held by cryptocurrency ETFs and other investment funds.
Expanding Crypto Revenue Streams
Robinhood's cryptocurrency initiatives have begun generating significant revenue. The company launched prediction markets in late 2024 and expanded them across political, sports, and earnings outcomes, generating $260 million in revenue during the first and second quarters of 2026.
In July 2026, Robinhood launched its Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain, Robinhood Chain. Within three months of its debut, the network accumulated over $1 billion in total value locked, and monthly revenue reached a record $32.3 million in September.
The company has also expanded offerings in tokenized securities and perpetual futures across commodities, ETFs, and foreign exchanges as part of its broader cryptocurrency strategy.
