Robinhood unveiled a comprehensive set of new features at the HOOD Summit in Houston on September 29, signaling a strategic shift toward a full-spectrum trading platform. The announcements include AI trading assistants, cryptocurrency derivatives, expanded trading hours, and new social capabilities.
AI-Powered Trading Assistants
Robinhood Agents represent the company's entry into AI-driven trading assistance, powered by models from OpenAI and Anthropic. The feature is designed to handle automatic trading execution, allowing users to delegate certain tasks to an AI co-pilot.
A capability called "Loops" will enable users to set standing instructions for their agents, automating execution based on specified conditions without requiring manual intervention for each trade.
The company plans to open Robinhood Agents to third-party developers, positioning itself as a platform for multiple AI trading tools.
Crypto Derivatives for U.S. Traders
Robinhood will launch perpetual futures contracts for U.S. users, allowing traders to take long or short positions on listed tokens, including Bitcoin and Ethereum. The contracts will support variable leverage up to 10x. The rollout is expected in coming months, though an exact launch date has not been specified.
Extended and Weekend Trading Hours
Weekend equities trading is planned for early 2027, pending regulatory approval, featuring a curated selection of stocks and ETFs. The company noted that off-hours trading already accounts for 25% of total volume on busy weekdays.
Extended options trading hours will launch in October 2026, expanding the trading window to 7:30 a.m. through 4:15 p.m. ET. The company also announced higher intraday margin limits and one-cancels-other (OCO) orders.
Earnings Contracts and Social Trading
Through a partnership with Cboe, Robinhood will introduce earnings contracts, allowing users to take positions on specific metrics tied to company performance around earnings releases.
Robinhood Social represents a new social trading layer within the platform. The company also announced a live earnings experience for real-time viewing of results within the app, along with dual- and multi-display support. Infrastructure improvements under the name "Helios" address backend performance.
