Robinhood Chain Records 59% of Stock Token Trading Outside US Market Hours

Trading on Robinhood Chain continues around the clock while traditional US markets close for the day. According to data covering September 24 to October 23, 2026, 59% of decentralized exchange volume in Stock Tokens on the network occurred outside regular US market hours, including $532 million traded on weekends when the New York Stock Exchange is closed.

During that one-month period, Stock Tokens generated $3.68 billion in total trading volume on Robinhood Chain. Weekend activity alone accounted for 14% of this total.

What Are Stock Tokens

Stock Tokens are ERC-20 tokens that provide price exposure to US stocks and ETFs. These tokens operate on a blockchain and track the value of their underlying assets. Secondary trading on decentralized exchanges like Uniswap and Rialto runs continuously, though the process of creating new tokens or retiring existing ones follows a Monday through Saturday schedule.

As of October 12, 2026, cumulative Stock Token trading volume had reached $15 billion, with approximately 200,000 holders spread across more than 120 countries.

The Geographic Factor

Stock Tokens are not available to US residents by design. The traders participating in around-the-clock trading are located outside the United States. For users in Asia or parts of Europe, regular US market hours often fall during their nighttime or evening hours. A 24/7 trading venue effectively shifts the market onto their local time.

Robinhood Chain, which launched on July 1, 2026 as an Ethereum Layer 2 network, was built specifically to accommodate tokenized assets. As a Layer 2 solution, it settles transactions back to Ethereum while processing them more cheaply and quickly than the main chain.

Price Implications

Because minting and burning of Stock Tokens operate only Monday through Saturday, weekend trading relies entirely on tokens already in circulation. When the underlying stock market is closed on Sundays and new token supply cannot be created, token prices may diverge from where underlying shares reopen when trading resumes.
