Robinhood Says 200,000 Customers Have Opened AI-Powered Trading Accounts

About 200,000 Robinhood customers have opened Agentic Trading Accounts, which allow AI models to analyze markets and place trades, the company said. Those accounts have generated over $1.6 billion in notional trading volume.

From beta to broad rollout in one quarter

Robinhood Markets (HOOD) launched the beta for Agentic Trading Accounts on May 27, 2026. The first version let customers connect outside AI agents to dedicated accounts, separate from their regular portfolios.

Adoption climbed at a steady pace. About 50,000 customers signed up shortly after launch, and the count reached nearly 100,000 by late July. The total passed 150,000 by late September and reached approximately 200,000 by September 30, 2026, the end of the third quarter.

The bigger moment came in late September at the HOOD Summit in Houston, where Robinhood rolled out Robinhood Agents inside its app and introduced AI models from OpenAI and Anthropic for trading automation. As of late September, agents were performing approximately 30 million tool queries on the Robinhood platform each day.

How the AI accounts work

Users can connect AI models for three main tasks: market analysis, trading strategy, and executing automated strategies. Robinhood calls those automated strategies “Loops.” A Loop runs inside parameters the user sets.

The product currently supports stocks and options. Robinhood plans to expand crypto integrations, which would extend the agents into an asset class that trades 24/7 and never takes a weekend off.

AI performance has shown limitations, including occasional resistance to trading directives. CEO Vlad Tenev has framed the product as a way to democratize trading strategies once limited to hedge funds.

Background: Robinhood’s long game on retail access

The platform’s funded customer base remains near 29 million. Against that total, 200,000 agentic accounts is still a small slice of the user base.

What this means for Robinhood and its rivals

Robinhood is not alone in this race. Coinbase, Public.com, Moomoo, and Interactive Brokers are also launching or enhancing AI-agent trading features in 2026.
