Coinbase and Samsung are expanding their partnership to integrate USDC stablecoin functionality into Samsung Wallet, making the dollar-backed cryptocurrency available to millions of U.S. smartphone users.
The integration will roll out to 82 million eligible U.S. Galaxy devices starting in the last week of October. When users top up their stablecoin balance in Samsung Wallet, USDC will appear as the default dollar stablecoin option.
Features and Functionality
Users will be able to hold and send USDC directly within Samsung Wallet without installing a separate cryptocurrency app or managing private keys. The service includes international money transfer capabilities, with payouts reaching bank accounts in more than 60 countries. Bastion will convert USDC to local currency through regulated partners, with Solana providing infrastructure for cross-border transfers.
Transfers will require biometric authorization from a registered device and integrate into the same interface used for cards, boarding passes, and identification.
Custody and Security
Coinbase Prime Vault will serve as the sub-custodian for USDC held through the service. Bastion, the licensed custodian and money transmission partner, will maintain individual account records, process transfers, and conduct identity verification and transaction screening.
USDC is designed to be redeemable 1:1 for U.S. dollars, with reserves held separately from Circle's operating funds and subject to monthly independent attestations.
Partnership Timeline
The Samsung-Coinbase collaboration began in July 2025 with Samsung Pay funding inside Coinbase, allowing users to purchase cryptocurrency. In October 2025, Coinbase One membership access expanded to more than 75 million Galaxy owners in the United States. The new stablecoin integration represents the latest phase of the expanding partnership.
