Strategy has not announced a new bitcoin purchase in over two months, but a recent post from co-founder Michael Saylor has reignited speculation about the company's accumulation plans.
On August 30, Saylor posted on X alongside a chart showing the company's 110 bitcoin purchases over the past six years, writing "We're ₿ack." The message prompted widespread community debate about whether Strategy intends to resume its bitcoin buying strategy.
Strategy's most recent announced bitcoin purchase occurred on June 22, following which the company paused its accumulation strategy for two months. During this period, the company announced several bitcoin sales and focused on rebuilding its US dollar reserves, which climbed above $6.5 billion. The company also established a new program called USD Cash, consisting of $1.59 billion, alongside its regular reserve of $5.1 billion.
While some observers interpreted Saylor's message as a signal of renewed bitcoin purchases, others suggested it referred to the company's investment position turning profitable. Bitcoin's price has recovered significantly in recent weeks, surging from under $65,000 to over $78,500, bringing Strategy's holdings into profit for the first time since May given the company's average accumulation cost of $75,653 per bitcoin.
Strategy's current CEO, Phong Le, recently indicated that bitcoin purchases could resume by year-end, though he provided no additional details on timing or purchase amounts.
