The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has pushed back the effective date of a GraniteShares filing covering leveraged XRP exchange-traded funds, delaying the timeline for a registration that includes products tied to Ripple's XRP.
Nov. 30 Effective Date Proposed
On Oct. 26, 2026, GraniteShares ETF Trust filed a post-effective amendment with the SEC. The filing states that its sole intent is to delay the impact of an earlier change to the registration until Nov. 30, 2026.
The registration covers several crypto products, including the GraniteShares 3x Long XRP Daily ETF and the GraniteShares 3x Short XRP Daily ETF. It also includes funds leveraged on Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana.
The amendment adopts Nov. 30 as the proposed effective date under Rule 485(b) of the Securities Act of 1933. The filing does not explain the postponement and does not refer to the U.S. midterm elections.
Election Timing Draws Attention
The SEC filing comes days before the Nov. 3 midterm elections, as Republicans and Democrats compete for control of Congress. Republicans currently hold the House of Representatives by a 218-214 margin and the Senate by 53-47.
The outcome may have implications for political regulation of cryptocurrencies. The elections will determine control of both chambers, with Democrats seeking to gain control, and will serve as a test of President Donald Trump's administration.
AdImpact reported on Oct. 12 that more than $3.8 billion had been spent on aired political advertisements. The contests are driven by economic worries, among other factors, and by voter sentiment.
However, the SEC's decision appears to have been independent of the election calendar. There is no evidence in the GraniteShares filing that the election played any role in the XRP ETF delay.
GraniteShares ETF Trust President William Rhind signed the amendment on Oct. 26. Investors now await whether the registration receives clearance on the new effective date.
