Sequans Communications Completes Bitcoin Exit, Closes Treasury Strategy

Sequans Communications, a NYSE-listed semiconductor company, has completed its exit from Bitcoin, selling its remaining 34 BTC and officially closing its cryptocurrency treasury strategy.

The company began its retreat in May after using a portion of its Bitcoin holdings to redeem convertible debt. At that time, Sequans held approximately 658 BTC. By June 30, the total had declined to 314 BTC before being fully liquidated by late September.

According to the company's press release, the final sale leaves Sequans with no cryptocurrency holdings on its balance sheet and no outstanding debt except for obligations tied to government-funded research and development programs. CEO Georges Karam stated the company monetized its remaining holdings in a "measured and opportunistic manner" and will now focus entirely on its semiconductor growth strategy.

The company framed the move as part of broader balance-sheet restructuring rather than a bearish statement on Bitcoin itself. Sequans reported that product revenue rose more than 80% year-over-year in Q2, with its six-month product backlog more than tripling.

Sequans is not alone in reducing Bitcoin exposure this year. Other public companies have taken similar steps: Satsuma Technologies dismantled its treasury vehicle, while Empery Digital sold 1,400 BTC for approximately $87 million. Strategy, which historically pursued a buy-only approach, conducted several sales during the summer before resuming accumulation in late August as Bitcoin's price recovered. Strive, by contrast, has only accelerated its Bitcoin purchases, reaching 25,000 units this month and acquiring another 1,355 BTC last week.
