Shiba Inu (SHIB) has officially launched on the Solana network, according to a recent announcement from the project. The memecoin can now be traded on Solana's decentralized finance ecosystem, providing access to new users, liquidity, and on-chain activity.
Solana recorded $190 billion in DEX volume during the third quarter, up from approximately $180 billion in Q2, indicating stronger on-chain activity and deeper liquidity. Pump.fun, one of the largest memecoin launchpads on Solana, generated nearly $400 million in 24-hour DEX volume, demonstrating the blockchain's capacity to support memecoin trading.
Exchange Supply Pressures
On-chain data showed that as of October 3rd, more than 88 trillion SHIB were held on cryptocurrency exchanges, while net exchange inflows exceeded 288 billion SHIB, suggesting increased selling pressure. Exchange reserves reached their highest level since June 3rd, indicating that additional SHIB tokens may become available for sale.
The Solana launch could provide liquidity to absorb this exchange supply and potentially reverse bearish price trends for the memecoin.
Broader Memecoin Market Momentum
The memecoin market cap rose 43% during Q3, marking the strongest quarterly performance since Q2 2025. SHIB closed Q3 up more than 37% while maintaining consolidation around $0.000005, outperforming Dogecoin during the period.
With the memecoin sector gaining traction and both liquidity and risk appetite increasing, SHIB's entry into Solana's ecosystem comes amid favorable market conditions. The combination of sector momentum, Solana's growing liquidity, and Pump.fun's prominence as a memecoin launchpad positions SHIB to potentially attract new demand in the fourth quarter.
