Shiba Inu (SHIB) has closed above its 20-week moving average for the first time since September 2025, bringing an end to an 11-month downtrend. The token recently traded at $0.00000528, down 4.27% over a 24-hour period as it undergoes a retest of the breakout.
Japan Approval and Market Infrastructure
The trend shift arrived during the same week Japan’s Financial Services Agency registered Laser Digital Japan as a crypto asset exchange service provider. The subsidiary of Nomura’s digital assets arm secured the first new exchange approval in the country in four years.
SHIB is selected as one of six initial launch assets alongside Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin, making it the only meme coin included on the platform. The token previously joined the Japan Virtual and Crypto Assets Exchange Association Green List in November 2025.
On-chain activity showed whale participation alongside the regulatory update. An unidentified wallet withdrew 280.8 billion SHIB, valued at approximately $1.56 million, from OKX on August 24, while exchange reserves declined to 86.98 trillion tokens. SHIB currently ranks 31st by market capitalization at $3.11 billion.
Technical Outlook and Key Levels
On the weekly chart, SHIB previously faced rejections at the 20-week moving average near $0.00001000 in January and near $0.00000650 in May before achieving a close above the indicator. Underlying structure improved following a June low near $0.00000405 and a subsequent higher low near $0.00000445 in early August, followed by a weekly gain of roughly 25% on heavy volume.
However, the recent weekly candle wicked to approximately $0.00000620, stopping short of the 0.382 Fibonacci resistance at $0.00000636. On the daily chart, SHIB operates within an ascending parallel channel, having tagged the upper band near $0.00000600 on August 21 prior to a reversal.
Immediate support rests at $0.00000531, a confluence point representing the channel midline, the July 26 swing high, and the 20-week moving average. Additional support levels sit at $0.00000499 and the channel base near $0.00000450, while reclaiming $0.00000553 could open paths toward $0.00000600 and $0.00000636. The relative strength index has cooled to 58, indicating moderated momentum following twin peaks near 77.
Additional network metrics indicate that a recent 441% spike in the token burn rate removed approximately $230 worth of SHIB, while Shibarium activity remains near 1,180 daily transactions. Meanwhile, market participants monitor potential announcements teased by a team member regarding Shytoshi Kusama and Kaal Dhairya ahead of an August 31 window.
