Solana's applications generated $180 million in monthly revenue during September, the highest figure in nine months, according to available data. This performance gave Solana a 32% share of all blockchain app revenue, meaning roughly one of every three dollars earned by on-chain applications flowed through the Solana network.
September produced several notable milestones. On September 12, daily app revenue on Solana peaked at $7.935 million, the highest single-day total of 2026. That one-day figure exceeded the combined app revenue of Ethereum, Robinhood Chain, Hyperliquid L1, and BNB Smart Chain during the same period.
The momentum continued later in the month. Weekly app revenue reached $49.9 million in late September, a level not seen since mid-2025. Activity metrics also climbed, with Solana recording 7,699 monthly active programs in September, the highest count since August 2025. Programs are Solana's equivalent of smart contracts, the underlying code that powers applications on the network.
Month-to-Month Comparison
In August, Solana apps generated $143.23 million in revenue, representing 38.1% of the global app revenue total of $375.53 million. Although Solana's revenue increased from August to September, its market share decreased from 38.1% to 32%, indicating that rival networks also expanded during the period.
Different blockchain data trackers count fees using varying methodologies, resulting in different totals. One Spanish-language report estimated Solana's September app revenue at approximately $145.75 million, notably lower than the $180 million figure but still placing Solana at the top of the leaderboard.
Implications
The rise in monthly active programs alongside increased revenue suggests growing builder activity on the network. The increase in both metrics points toward expanding network activity rather than a isolated spike. However, the methodological differences between trackers underscore the importance of verifying which data source a figure originates from when comparing blockchain metrics.
