Digital asset solana (SOL) is closing August with its first monthly win in nearly a year, pushing the token back above $100 per coin. The rally was fueled by institutional capital inflows, a tighter future token supply, and record network activity.
Trading near $106 on Sunday afternoon, SOL touched $110.38 on August 27, marking its highest level since late January. The token climbed roughly 46% during the month, recovering about 80% from its June low and bringing its market valuation back toward the $61 billion mark. Despite the strong performance, SOL remains below its January all-time high near $293.
Regulated investment products contributed notably to the momentum. U.S. spot solana exchange-traded funds (ETFs) accumulated roughly $1.34 billion in cumulative net inflows since launching in October 2025, according to sosovalue.com data. Additionally, Bitwise’s BSOL solana fund crossed $1 billion in assets under management. Corporate buyers also expanded their positions, as Defi Development Corp. purchased 19,000 SOL at an average price of $98.14 to raise its holdings to about 2.33 million SOL, and Goldman Sachs disclosed roughly $88 million in Solana ETF exposure.
Distribution channels are expanding further. On August 27, Charles Schwab announced plans to introduce spot SOL, avalanche (AVAX), and chainlink (LINK) access to Schwab Crypto in the coming months, a platform serving approximately 39 million accounts.
On the supply side, Solana completed its first binding onchain governance vote. Proposal SGP-0002, titled "Double Disinflation," passed with 67% support, doubling Solana’s annual disinflation rate from 15% to 30%. This change will slow the introduction of new SOL into circulation, with estimates suggesting an issuance reduction of roughly 18.9 million SOL over six years.
Network usage reached historic highs alongside the price movement. According to The Kobeissi Letter, Solana processed a record 4.2 billion transactions in July, and logged about 1.32 billion non-vote transactions between August 17 and 23. Upgrades are queued to support this activity, including Transaction V1 scheduled for September 9, which will increase the maximum transaction size from 1,232 bytes to 4,096 bytes.
