Solana's native token has declined significantly over the past month and is currently consolidating just above $100, placing the asset at a pivotal moment according to multiple analysts tracking the market.
The crypto community remains divided on the direction of SOL's next major move, with some forecasters citing bullish technical formations while others point to weakening institutional demand as a cautionary signal.
Bullish Forecasts Dominate
Several analysts have identified what they describe as a head-and-shoulders pattern on the weekly timeframe, suggesting potential upside. One analyst projected this formation could push SOL toward $210, while another forecast a longer-term target of $500 following what he characterized as two years of accumulation and a recent reclaim of support near $100.
Additional bullish commentary highlighted SOL's break above a 52-week trendline, with one analyst suggesting that holding support above $95 could enable a move to $126.
Cautious Signals and Downside Risks
Not all analysis points upward. One analyst noted that the $100 level is critical, stating that a break below this support could trigger a move toward $88. If the $100 level holds, the next target would be $114.
Institutional data suggests reasons for caution. Spot SOL exchange-traded funds experienced outflows exceeding $17 million in the most recent week, reflecting reduced institutional demand. Exchange netflow data showed that inflows have dominated outflows over recent weeks, indicating a shift from self-custody to centralized platforms, which may increase selling pressure.
One analyst cautioned that while a significant move is likely by the end of October, the direction remains uncertain and traders should wait for clarity before taking positions.
