Solana Infrastructure Firm and Gold Exchange Partner to Explore Gold-Backed Collateral for Validator Staking

Solana blockchain infrastructure firm Flowra has partnered with Korea Gold Exchange Digital Asset (KorDA) to explore using gold-backed digital assets as collateral for Solana validator operations. Under a 12-month memorandum of understanding, the companies plan to evaluate a model where KGLD, a gold-backed digital asset managed by KorDA or an authorized affiliate, serves as collateral to secure SOL tokens delegated to network validators.

The initiative reflects expanding interest in real-world assets on blockchain. Tokenized gold has emerged as one of the fastest-growing categories in the digital asset sector, with total market capitalization exceeding $6 billion, driven by institutional demand, central bank gold purchases, and geopolitical uncertainty.

Program Structure and Responsibilities

The companies plan to launch the Flowra-KorDA Delegation Program (FKDP), which would allocate sourced SOL to eligible validators. SOL would be sourced from institutional investors, lending providers, and the Solana Foundation.

Operational responsibilities will be divided between the two firms. Flowra will provide its Solana infrastructure, including its Block Engine, Programmable Block Policy, and open orderflow auction technologies. KorDA will oversee validator operations, including server maintenance, monitoring, and key management. The companies will jointly establish validator selection criteria, SOL allocation guidelines, and protocols for distributing revenue from staking rewards, block rewards, and maximum extractable value (MEV) tips.

Regulatory and Custody Considerations

The companies emphasized that any future rollout remains subject to regulatory review and legal compliance. Under the proposed framework, Flowra will not custody collateral; assets will be segregated and held via independent custodians, escrow accounts, or multi-signature wallets. Flowra and KorDA intend to assess regulatory requirements in 2026 before launching the delegation program.
