Solana is approaching its first network governance votes concerning its constitution, inflation schedule, and fee structure. However, the production bundle for the frontend currently displays a 60% quorum path that conflicts with the platform's governance FAQ, which sets the quorum requirement at one-third of the snapshot stake.
The discrepancy is strictly a display issue and does not impact on-chain vote verification, stake weights, or the final tally. The current vote breakdown calculates percentages against a live sum of validator stake, whereas the governance rules specify that voting power should be fixed using active stake at the pre-vote snapshot. Quorum is reached when one-third of network stake participates through For, Against, and Abstain choices.
Pull request 170 has been proposed to fix the frontend error by using the proposal's matching snapshot total and marking participation as unavailable if matching metadata is missing. The fix must be merged and deployed before epoch 1021. Network samples indicate that epoch 1021 is estimated to begin around August 23, though exact timing may drift depending on slot rates.
Additional technical challenges include inconsistent results from direct endpoints regarding the epoch-1020 snapshot, with some returning null and default routing errors occurring. Solana Company, a Nasdaq-listed treasury company and validator operator, stated it plans to vote in favor of the constitution and against the proposed inflation and fee changes.
