Solana's September performance marked a notable uptick for the blockchain network, combining significant price gains with increased on-chain activity and a technical upgrade aimed at improving transaction throughput.
SOL gained over 14% in September, crossing the $120 level for the first time since early Q1. The month also saw the network reach 10.7 billion monthly transactions, its highest volume since May 2025, suggesting a closer alignment between network adoption and price performance.
Growing Tokenized Equity Market
Activity on Solana extended beyond standard transactions. The supply of tokenized equity on the network reached $780.5 million in September, with spot trading volume hitting $4.25 billion and holder numbers surpassing 1 million. These metrics represent growth in the network's use for equity tokenization and on-chain trading.
Technical Enhancement
Solana's developers reduced the network's slot time from 400 milliseconds to 200 milliseconds, effectively halving the time between blocks. This change increases the network's capacity to produce blocks and process transactions more rapidly compared to competing networks like Ethereum, which operates on 12-second block times.
The combination of faster block production and growing tokenized equity activity could support continued network adoption in Q4, though sustained momentum depends on maintaining the growth trajectory established in September.
