Solana's tokenized real-world asset (RWA) market has experienced significant growth, expanding 600% over the past year to reach $4.3 billion, according to findings from Castle Labs. This rapid expansion represents a notable shift in how the network is evolving beyond its early reputation.
The growth rate contrasts sharply with Ethereum's RWA market, which grew just 7% in the same period, from $15.5 billion to $16.6 billion. Solana's market share relative to Ethereum's has grown substantially, rising from 4.5% a year ago to 26% currently.
Expanding Asset Classes
Solana's RWA ecosystem now includes diverse asset classes such as US Treasury debt, asset-backed credit, tokenized stocks, commodities, and curated investment strategies. Tokenized stocks have been particularly significant, with their market value on the network jumping from $63 million to $455 million.
The expansion has enabled new financial mechanisms. More than $65 million in tokenized equities on Solana are being used to generate yield, with assets serving as collateral on lending platforms such as Kamino and Jupiter Lend. Other developments include reinsurance exposure through ONyc, home and consumer auto loan-backed products from Hastra, and yield-bearing offerings like syrupUSDC from Maple Finance.
DeFi Ecosystem Activity
The RWA growth has supported broader DeFi activity on Solana. Tokenized assets function as collateral for lending protocols, allowing users to borrow against holdings and deploy capital across platforms. This structure creates additional demand for lending and borrowing services as more assets enter the network.
Beyond RWA markets, Solana generated over $193 million in onchain application revenue over the past 30 days, nearly twice the amount generated on Hyperliquid. Consumer applications account for approximately 80% of this revenue, including contributions from launchpads, trading terminals, wallets, and other platforms.
