Standard Asset Company outlines $1.5 billion Bitcoin and UAE real estate strategy

Standard Asset Company (SAC), a newly established proprietary investor in Abu Dhabi, has outlined a strategy to acquire income-producing UAE real estate and use the proceeds to build a long-term Bitcoin reserve. The firm is targeting a total of $1.5 billion for the program, which it plans to run over 10 years with quarterly allocation reviews.

Real estate and Bitcoin components

SAC, officially registered as Standard Proprietary Company Ltd., opened its headquarters in the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) on October 27, 2026. The launch also serves as the company’s public debut.

The real estate side focuses on hospitality properties and branded residences—assets intended to generate operational income rather than rely solely on appreciation. The crypto side is a Bitcoin reserve that SAC intends to build in phases, supported by managed yield strategies.

SAC describes its model as “generate-retain-redeploy”: the properties earn cash, the company retains it, and then channels that cash into acquiring and managing Bitcoin.

Coinbase Asset Management has been named the exclusive manager of SAC’s Bitcoin reserves. For a firm with no prior history, attaching an established institutional custodian and overseer is a credibility move as much as an operational one.

SAC has not disclosed how the $1.5 billion will be split between real estate and Bitcoin. The quarterly allocation reviews mean that split may shift over time.

Leadership and advisers

SAC was founded by Sakhib Waseem, Adam Ali, and Mason Borda. The trio collectively brings more than $7 billion in transaction advisory experience, along with backgrounds in digital asset offerings.

The company also lists Brett Tejpaul and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum among its notable advisers and shareholders.

On the regulatory front, SAC is registered with ADGM but is not a licensed financial services provider. That distinction fits its proprietary structure, meaning it invests its own capital rather than managing money for outside clients.

Abu Dhabi’s institutional push

SAC frames its launch as a bridge between the UAE’s real estate sector and digital asset management. The company positions this as aligned with the UAE’s strategic vision to encourage institutional digital asset activity.

Open questions

The undisclosed allocation is the biggest open question for anyone sizing up the plan. A $1.5 billion strategy that is mostly real estate would resemble a property company with a crypto component. One that leans heavily toward Bitcoin would be closer to a treasury vehicle with real estate attached.

Quarterly reviews give SAC room to tilt toward whichever side is performing. It also makes the firm harder to categorize from the outside.

The managed yield component also deserves attention. Earning yield on a Bitcoin reserve can boost returns, but it also introduces counterparty and strategy risk that pure cold storage avoids. Having Coinbase Asset Management in charge helps on the oversight side, though SAC has not detailed which yield strategies it plans to use.

What to watch next: the first disclosed property acquisitions, any statement on the real estate versus Bitcoin split, and early details on the size and pace of Bitcoin purchases.
