Strategy Expands USD Reserves While Pausing Bitcoin Purchases as Position Turns Profitable

Strategy has extended its pause on purchasing bitcoin for another week, choosing instead to focus on growing its fiat currency reserves. The update was shared by co-founder and former CEO Michael Saylor.

During this latest period, the firm increased its regular USD reserve to $5.1 billion and established an additional USD Cash reserve of $1.59 billion, adding a total of $1.9 billion to its reserves. Additionally, the company repurchased $136 million worth of STRC, with its price continuing to move closer to the $100 par level. The firm has made no bitcoin transactions since its last reported sale on August 10, when it disposed of 1,690 BTC.

The announcement follows a recent market surge that drove bitcoin prices from under $65,000 to just over $78,000. This price revival pushed Strategy's massive bitcoin holding back into profit for the first time in months. With an average accumulation price of approximately $75,400 across an investment of about $63.3 billion, the company's holdings are now valued at over $65.6 billion, recovering from an unrealized loss of more than $10 billion earlier in the year.

As of August 23, 2026, Strategy holds roughly 4% of the total bitcoin supply with near-zero net leverage.
